The Good Ol Days

I was thinking the other day about how I use to market myself.  Here you go!   A big cartoon picture.  I literally hated it.  I was working the entire 30A market and was looking for something that would stand out.  By accident, I nailed it.  I had recently just gotten out of the art business where my wife and I had a very successful furniture/art gallery in the heart of Seagrove Beach.  The store was called Collaborations.  The tag line was, "stuff that don't match the couch."  Talk about the good ol' days.  At any rate, we had lots of connections with various artist.  One of my favorite art teams was a duo called, Patterson and Barnes.  They are well know for their amazing caricatures and have done a lot of celebrity work for the House of Blues.  I figured, why not make my realtor pic a caricature.  The big reveal day came and I went to pick it up from their funky studio in Santa Rosa Beach.   I hated it.....  But, I began to note how others reacted to it.  They loved it.  People began to call me, "the surfing real estate agent".  This is when I began to realize that in real estate it is probably more critical how others perceive me versus how I perceive me.  This special piece now adorns my parents back porch and is occasionally still used in marketing.  To this day, almost 15 years later people still ask me about it.  Who knows, maybe I will bring it back full time.  I might need to add some gray hair though and the flip phone has got to go.  Image title
