Reopening With Safety

As many businesses across the country gradually begin to reopen, it’s important to continue to take precautions to stay healthy. We have rounded up important guidelines for you to follow to stay safe and help reduce your risk of COVID-19 exposure.

Safety Precautions

  1. Continue to Keep Your Distance. Just because restrictions in many states have eased, it’s still important to follow CDC's guidelines. Remember, try to keep at least six feet away from others when outside, wear a mask, and wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds. Until there’s a vaccine, it’s important to be very careful.

  2. Visiting Family and Friends. When seeing loved ones that do not live with you, experts suggest you do so in an outdoor setting (a park or someone’s backyard), for greater ventilation and space. Keep the group small (under 10 people), wear masks, and maintain six feet apart.

  3. Religious Gatherings. Although allowed in some states, it is still not recommended to attend large gatherings as they are likely in a confined location with older attendees. Attend virtual religious services if they’re made available.

  4. Dining at a Restaurant. If you must, select a place with outdoor seating, tables sufficiently spaced apart, and make sure all servers are wearing masks. However, this is still not recommended for those in the high-risk category.

  5. Shopping. If you’re maintaining your distance and wearing a mask, it should be relatively low risk. Avoid stores or malls with crowds and see if your favorite store offers curbside pick-up to reduce exposure.

  6. Returning to Work. If your workplace is reopening, find out what safety measures your employer is taking before going back. Ideally, you should be able to keep your distance from others and make sure that all employees will have access to personal protective equipment. Ask if there is a sick-leave policy in place that encourages those with symptoms to stay home.

  7. Domestic Traveling. If you must travel to another city for an emergency or just to get away, experts recommend driving over flying to reduce exposure to strangers. If you choose to fly, check out the airlines’ guidelines here.

We understand how difficult it must be to maneuver in these uncertain times. We hope you follow the guidelines above so that you and your loved ones continue to stay safe.
