Walton County has rules about dogs actually being on the beach - they need a permit!  Permits are available to real property owners with proof of residency in Walton county Click here to apply.  There is a $40 fee.

If a dog has their permit (must be wearing it) they can be on the beach before 8:30AM and after 3:30PM.  They enforce this policy!  Your dogs also must be on a leash.

Now for those who bring their animals on vacation, here are some places to know about:

All of our communities are dog friendly and most have trails and provide waste stations for proper disposal of pet waste.  There are terrific trails in WaterColor, Watersound, Alys Beach and Rosemary.   Some restaurants and stores welcome pets, simply ask if not sure.

There are some fun things to do with your dog on 30A  -  a trail hike is always a good idea - all of the state parks are great for dogs - always clean up after your pet on the trails.

Taking your dog on a paddle on one of the coastal dune lakes is also a fantastic adventure.  The BoatHouse Paddleclub in WaterColor is a fantastic way to rent a standup paddle board on Western lake and take your dog on a fun ride on the lake.

Please remember to bring water for your dog during the hot months on any of your adventures.

So get out and enjoy 30A with your dog!
